Random Pokémon Generator
60 Pokémon
Random Pokémon generator — 60 favourites at your fingertips
Spin the wheel and land on a well-known Pokémon from the first six generations at random. Use it as a random Pokémon picker for a challenge run, to draft teams with friends, to settle "who gets to be Charizard" arguments, or to pick a drawing subject. Every Pokémon gets an equal slice — Pikachu's chance is exactly the same as Noivern's.
The wheel starts with 8 Pokémon ready to spin, and the full 60-Pokémon library is one tap away in the list panel, so the first spin can land anywhere from Kanto starters to Kalos legendaries. Remove the ones you want to exclude — legendaries, say, for a fairer draft — or paste in your own list for a focused round. If you want a random character that isn't from the Pokémon world, the random character generator covers heroes, villains and originals instead.
How to generate a random Pokémon in three steps
- Set your pool. The wheel starts with 8 Pokémon — load a full generation from the list panel if you want more. from six generations. Remove any you don't want, or add your own — your starter, your ace, a whole regional dex — by typing them in, one per line.
- Press Spin. The wheel slows and settles on one Pokémon. Every entry owns an identical slice, so legendaries are never weighted above commons.
- Use the result. Turn on remove-after-spin for drafts and quizzes so no Pokémon repeats, and export the results history as PDF, CSV or text when you need a record of the round.
What's actually on the wheel
The full library holds 60 well-known Pokémon, chosen so each of the first six generations is represented equally — ten each:
| Generation | Pokémon |
|---|---|
| Kanto (Gen 1) | 10 Pokémon |
| Johto (Gen 2) | 10 Pokémon |
| Hoenn (Gen 3) | 10 Pokémon |
| Sinnoh (Gen 4) | 10 Pokémon |
| Unova (Gen 5) | 10 Pokémon |
| Kalos (Gen 6) | 10 Pokémon |
The list runs from Pikachu, Charizard and Mewtwo through Blaziken, Lucario and Zoroark to Greninja and Xerneas. It is a curated favourites list, not a full Pokédex of all 1,000-plus species — but the entries are fully editable, so you can paste in any roster you like, including every Pokémon from a single generation.
Five ways players use it
- Random team drafts. Each player spins six times with remove-after-spin on, and battles with whatever team the wheel builds. The chaos is the point.
- Challenge runs. Spin once and play your next game using only that Pokémon's type, or build a Nuzlocke-style rule set around whatever comes up.
- Drawing and writing prompts. Spin a Pokémon and sketch it from memory, or write it into a story. Teachers use the same trick for art-class warm-ups.
- Quiz nights. Spin a Pokémon and have players name its type, generation or evolution line. Pair it with the random number wheel to pick which question number each team answers.
- Settling debates. "Who would win" arguments end faster when the wheel picks each side's fighter. For a verdict on the winner, the yes or no wheel gives an instant answer.
Is the pick really random?
Yes — the winning Pokémon comes from the random number generator built into your browser, and every entry on the wheel gets an exactly equal slice. The wheel doesn't favour starters, legendaries or fan favourites, and no spin is influenced by the one before it. Nothing is sent to a server, so your spins stay on your device.
One honest caveat: this is a randomizer for picking from a list, not a tool that edits game saves or re-randomizes a ROM — it can't touch your actual games. If what you need is a random name for a character or team instead, the random name generator handles that side.
