Random Song Generator
320 Songs, Eight Genres
Random song generator — 320 hits at your fingertips
Spin the wheel and land on a random song from a library of 320 well-known hits across eight genres and eras. Use it to answer "what song should I listen to?", build a party playlist, run a music-bingo night, or settle which song gets the last slot on a mixtape. Every song gets an equal slice — a deep cut from the 80s has exactly the same chance as this year's chart-topper.
The wheel starts with 8 songs ready to spin, and the full 320-song library is one tap away in the list panel, so the first spin can land anywhere from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Espresso". Remove songs you want to skip, narrow the field to a single genre, or paste in your own playlist — the list is fully editable. If you're picking films rather than tracks, the random movie generator works the same way with 470 films.
How to pick a random song in three steps
- Set your pool. The wheel starts with 8 songs — load a full genre from the list panel if you want more. Remove any you don't want, or paste your own playlist into the entries box, one song per line — the wheel rebuilds itself instantly.
- Press Spin. The wheel slows and settles on one song. Every song on the wheel owns an identical slice, so the pick is never weighted toward any genre or era.
- Use the result. Turn on remove-after-spin for music-bingo rounds so no song repeats, and export the results history as PDF, CSV or text when you need a record of the playlist the wheel built.
What's actually on the wheel
The full library holds 320 songs — forty from each of eight genres and eras:
| Genre / era | Songs |
|---|---|
| Pop | 40 songs |
| Rock | 40 songs |
| Hip-Hop & R&B | 40 songs |
| Country | 40 songs |
| Dance & Electronic | 40 songs |
| 80s & 90s Classics | 40 songs |
| 2000s Hits | 40 songs |
| 2010s & 2020s Hits | 40 songs |
The list runs from "Dancing Queen" and "Hotel California" through "Mr. Brightside" and "Hey Ya!" to "Good Luck, Babe!" and "Pink Pony Club". Your own favourite might not be on it — the entries are editable, so add it in one line. For a different kind of music decision, the yes or no wheel settles "should we play it again?" in one spin.
Five ways people use it
- Playlist roulette. Paste in your saved playlist and let the wheel pick what plays next — a fair way to rediscover songs you added years ago and forgot.
- Music bingo and quizzes. Spin a song, play the first ten seconds, and have players name the title or artist. Remove-after-spin keeps a whole round collision-free.
- Party aux-cord battles. Each guest spins a genre, then has sixty seconds to queue their best pick from it. The random topic generator keeps the conversation going between rounds.
- Workout and road-trip mixes. Spin fifteen songs with remove-after-spin on, and the wheel builds the set list. The random workout generator can pick the exercises to go with it.
- Breaking a stalemate. Two people, two songs, one speaker — put both on the wheel and spin. For bigger group decisions, the decision wheel handles any options you type in.
Is the pick really random?
Yes — the winning song comes from the random number generator built into your browser, and every song on the wheel gets an exactly equal slice. The wheel doesn't weight results by chart position, streams or release year, and no spin is influenced by the one before it. Nothing is sent to a server, so your playlist stays on your device.
One honest caveat: "random song" means a uniformly random pick from the list on the wheel, not a random song from all of recorded music. The 320-song library is a curated starting point — the real magic happens when you paste in your own playlist and let the wheel surprise you with your own taste. Want a random artist instead of a song? The random celebrity generator covers famous names, and the random name generator handles the rest.
